This past weekend I got to pony sit, which is one of my favorite things. It’s a lot of work taking care of all the horses/dogs/chickens, but it’s also really fun & rewarding. You get to spend so much time with the horses, too!
So one of the cool things about feeding them in the morning is that they get to go out & graze for 30 minutes in the pasture. Normally there’s just something peaceful and calming about all 4 of them standing out there grazing, but this Saturday morning they were full of high spirts as they raced and bucked around the pasture. I thought they’d just have a few hijinks and then settle down, but they ran, and bucked, and hopped all over for quite a while.
The most amazing moment was when Griffy and Merlin were running around together – I was standing in the corner where I could watch them without getting trampled, and Griffy galloped up to me and stopped just in front – head high, nostrils flaring, ears pitched up, he stood there for a moment asking “Did you see me?? Did you see how amazing I am?” I reached out and petted his forehead for a second, then he turned and galloped off. I thought for a minute of taking a picture of him, but he was gone so fast. I did, however, get some cool video of him and Merlin running around.
