So today is day 38 of 75Hard, which means the I’m past the halfway mark! I am in a weird mix of “can’t wait to be done” and “can’t wait for round 2!!”
Anyway, today was a rare day of solid rain in Central Texas – we get rain here, but it’s rare for it to be an all-day affair. Usually we get a few hours of storms and then just gloom for the rest of the day. Today, however, it has been raining almost non-stop all day. So much so that at 2pm I started to get a little anxious about getting my outdoor walk in….for a half second I contemplated not doing it, but then I said fuck that, I’m not going to come THIS FAR and get set back because of some stupid rain! So I grabbed my trusty poncho and headed out.
It didn’t rain for the first….let’s say 15 minutes. There was some distant thunder, but it sounded like it was heading away. After about 20-25 minutes, it started to come down a bit, but I thought “no problem!” and donned my trusty poncho. It was not the most fun, but definitely tolerable.
At 28 minutes, it started to REALLY rain. I debated going directly home and just doing like a short workout to finish things up, but I thought “Nah, I can iron man it through!”
At 30 minutes the thunder started again….not distant and not heading away.
I don’t know what time but like a minute later, the deluge started. My trusty poncho was a sad wet sack clinging to me, and my shoes and socks were soaked because the water was up over my ankles in some places.
Around 40 minutes, the lightning started.
At 44 minutes I finally made it home!
So yeah, now after a hot shower and dry clothes I feel pretty good about having done it and even better about not having to go outside again!
